About & Contact

“I take inspiration from everyday people in motion. Especially in New York subways, the streets of Los Angeles, at social justice protests, and in businesses with fast moving people and parts.

Clients hire me for those raw and candid moments that capture who they are without the usual formal staging. But with all the beauty of natural light.

You aren’t self-conscious when I’m taking your picture—because you’re in the moment, focused on what matters most to you.”

Background

Born in Sikkim (India), Tenzing Wangchuk is a second generation Tibetan refugee. Growing up as a refugee in his adopted country of India, one of the world’s most diverse countries, he was immersed in a cultural tapestry of people.

Living in a poverty-stricken rural area, his parents were moved to help orphans and the elderly with their education, healthcare and housing needs. His parents’ work for the community inspired Tenzing to start a nonprofit private school for underprivileged children ages 3-15 in his village. His school had an enrollment of 30 students from different faiths and ethnic backgrounds.

It was during these early days that Tenzing began documenting the stories of each of his students, igniting a life-long passion for creating visual stories with cameras.

Tenzing Wangchuk is based in New York and Los Angeles.
